Electric cars, bikes feature in Perth complex

A yet-to-be-built apartment complex is set to be the first to offer communal electric cars and bikes.

Stirling Capital’s Verdant has been designed with a sustainability focus that includes three-storey high living green walls. The complex will have 136 apartments across 19 storeys.

Stirling Capital director Luke Reinecke said the sustainable opportunities inherent in the location inspired the design team, MJA Architects, to look for innovations that would set the project apart.

Other green features include solar panels, a solar-boosted central hot water plant, cross-ventilation to reduce the need for air conditioning and energy-efficient lighting and water fittings.

Mr Reinecke said residents will be able to book the two electric cars on a short-term basis and at short notice. Residents will also be given the opportunity to install electric-car charging stations.

Construction of Verdant would start in mid-2015 and would be completed by early 2018.
