Booking.com dug into its internal data to find the trending destinations for 2017.
What holiday scenario could beat having a beach paradise all to yourself, or a never-ending blanket of snow with not a soul in sight? Most of us ache for the chance to cross unchartered tourist territory.
And as the new year dawns, our desire to discover and explore new frontiers is awakened. But how to find those places that are novel and exciting but have not yet become part of the tourist trail?
The data experts at Booking.com analysed destinations based on growth in search to find the most aspirational places to visit in 2017. When analysed against wider trends*, the patterns of growth revealed some tantalising options. Read on to find out which destinations are trending for Australian travellers.

*The data analysts at Booking.com looked at the top 300 most searched destinations by market. These destinations were then ranked based on the increase in searches this year relative to last year. To qualify as trending, they had to have moved up in rank by at least ten places. To ensure that they weren¹t only trending in search and were seeing an increased volume of travel, they had to have a higher than average growth in bookings.
