Trial Hotels Needed for Mobile Door Locks

AN34-3-News-PhoneA South Australian company, LEAPIN, that is developing technology that turns a mobile phone into a hotel door key is looking for hotel chains to participate in trials of the software following news that it will receive federal government funding to take it to market.

LEAPIN received $50,000 to help commercialise its iPhone-Android application that allows hotel guests to bypass the reception check in process and use their phones to open their room doors.

LEAPIN CEO Stephen Dunn said the company had just begun a trial of the software and interfacing locks at Aruba Beach Resort at Surfers Paradise but is also keen to hear from chains who would like to also participate in trials next year.

"The next stage of the development is getting the system into chain hotels," he said. "The next level of investment from the federal government is called proof of concept and we are currently seeking hotels to participate in this."
