Refurbishment

Refurbishment ushers in new era

Brisbane city is that much more luxurious thanks to a brand new multi-million dollar refurbishment undergone by Sofitel Brisbane Central.

A stunning sight gracing the city’s skyline, this exciting upgrade now offers visitors an even brighter stay. Minimalistic in style, the hotel lobby’s interior design was used as inspiration for refurbishment of all 233 rooms, including 81 club rooms and 21 luxurious suites, to heighten the hotel’s sense of flow. The rooms were further inspired by French finesse and local heritage to create an interwoven sense of international sophistication and community spirit that incites a new brand of luxury.

According to Marcus Hanna, the general manager for Sofitel Brisbane Central, “We’re the largest luxury hotel in the city and our clients demand a high level of service and surroundings. When I arrived at the property in 2012 the owners and I identified that our rooms provided an opportunity to enhance our offerings and create a unique product for the business and leisure market.”

His guests would certainly agree with him here, as only a unique hotel such as Sofitel would offer their guests a Magnifique Romance package that includes a bottle of French Champagne and chocolates per room, per stay. This mouthwatering platter is a gesture of celebration for Sofitel, where the newly finalised refurbishment has infused the property with a generous air of prestige.

Mr Hanna added, “We commenced the process mid last year and I’m pleased to announce that all 433 rooms of the property have now been completed, with the Prestige and Opera Suites undergoing complete remodelling. Our design concept focused on infusing French elegance with elements of our local heritage, and this has resulted in a fresh and sophisticated décor, while still reflecting traditional French design influences throughout all room types.”

Sofitel Brisbane Central has revamped its exquisite collection of rooms with the assistance of local design group, DBI Design, by employing a variety of tone and décor selections. Junior Suites now scintillate in silver and warm grey shades, layered with textured fabrics and hints of duck egg blue. Superior rooms have been adorned with touches of pattern inspired by peacock feathers. Luxury, and Luxury Club rooms, on the other hand offer a much more regal ambiance with velvet and plum accents.

Furnishings were brought in from B+B Italia, Max Aalto and Mooi to flesh out the Prestige and Opera Suites, emanating a luxurious palette of deep garnet, champagne and mulberry features. Each Suite allures with an intimate, lovely feel reminiscent of classic European elegance. All aspects of each room has been thoroughly thought through: the tasteful colour palette has been incorporated into the floor coverings, upholstery and soft furnishings, and even the internal desk draws reflect the room’s colour scheme.

Technology has also been used to further Sofitel’s new look. Guests are now spoilt for choice, with a state of the art surround sound system, iPod and iPad connectivity, AV interface controls, electronic black out blinds and intelligent lighting all readily available in-room.

Sofitel’s global philosophy is to “combine old world heritage with modern local culture” and DBI Design was able to honor this by commissioning a stunning photographic collection to grace the elegant property. The expansive collection covers the entire hotel, showcasing a juxtaposition of Parisian landscapes and iconic Brisbane landmarks throughout each room.

The wildly popular Opera Suite has been entirety remodelled as part of the refurbishment project, now stretching across the whole of the building’s 28th floor. Elaborating, Sofitel proudly boasts that “the lounge space of the suite leads off to the discreet powder room, where an en suite bedroom is unveiled behind large sliding panels that are decorated with spectacular designer wall coverings”.

Other examples of the hotel’s spectacular new shows of luxury, include the grand en suite that incorporates a stone bath and vanity basins, as well as rain head showers and a dressing area. These bathrooms offer the finest in imported European décor by Arper and Fantini, alongside the highest quality in tapware created by Japan’s famed designer, Naoto Fukusawa.

New finishes, furniture, lighting and technology ensure both the business and leisure traveller are well catered for throughout a variety of room types. All rooms have access to wifi and an exceptionally reliable data connection. Bedrooms have also been equipped with sensor operated LED reading lamps, integrated bed heads and additional LED floor lamps that not only provide an extraordinary level of comfort to guests, but also adhere to the hotel’s best practice sustainability principles.

Notably, Sofitel’s exclusive MyBed continues to feature throughout all guest rooms. This is partly due to popular demand, as the immaculate bed, with its high mattress, plumped up with feathers and down, creates the perfect cocoon for a night’s rest. The bed’s secret lies in its unique combination of materials that blend to ensure the gentle softness and airy lightness guests need, to have the sleeping experience they come to Sofitel to enjoy.
