Edna Walling is regarded as one of Australia’s leading landscape designers and it is now possible to stay in one of her charming cottages surrounded by a hectare of glorious garden.
Located just a short stroll from Sherbrooke Forest in Victoris’s Dandenong Ranges this charming self-contained B&B is perfect for anyone in the mood for a romantic getaway.
The design for the cottage, built in 1936, came from Princess Elizabeth and Margaret’s life-size dolls’ house at Royal Lodge in Scotland. The two-storey historic cottage underwent an extensive restoration and modernisation to make a delightful getaway for two adults.
The beautifully kept Walling-designed garden is a tribute to the designer’s genius and boasts many special features including a sweeping stone staircase leading to a reflecting pond, rare plantings and a network of garden paths leading to a croquet lawn, cottage garden, orchard, nursery and even a model Tudor village.
