Bed & Breakfast, Farmstay and Accommodation Australia has changed its name to Hosted Accommodation Australia Ltd in an effort to better represent its entire membership.
The new name reflects the organisation’s widening membership base that includes guesthouses and boutique hotels as well as bed and breakfasts, farmstays and self-catering accommodation.
The name change, adopted at a special general meeting, represents quality accommodation businesses that, while all unique, have one service in common – hosting.
The new name comes after research conducted by Victoria University revealed that the Australian public has a rigid opinion of what constitutes a bed and breakfast, self-catering accommodation, farmstay and guesthouse. The study found that the collective term hosted accommodation resonates most strongly with consumers; they understand intuitively that all of the above mentioned accommodation types fall under this term. The name change has the strong support of allied tourism industry bodies.
