Aiming to attract stays from the mining sector, Discovery Holiday Parks announced earlier this week that it has purchased and rebranded a new property in the heart of the booming industry.
As part of a longer term growth strategy, the company has adopted a new business model that included the $15 million purchase of Emerald in Central Queensland that offers miners accommodation fitted to their needs.
“Companies in the mining industry require reliable, full-service worker accommodation, and we’re in a position to meet this demand,” Discover Holiday Parks chief executive Grant Wilckens said. “Traditionally, tourism has accounted for a majority of our revenue but by diversifying our offering in this way we can ensure continued business growth amidst a slowing tourism sector.”
Adding on to the company’s 30 holiday parks portfolio, the group said as part of the purchase the 185 en suite room and nine non-en suite room property purchase, the block would be renamed to Discovery Park- Emerald.
According to Discover Holiday Parks, Discovery Park- Emerald is fitted with an 80+ seat capacity restaurant, 120 capacity car park, a gymnasium and a laundry.
