Construction of a 144 unit motel is set to go ahead in Gladstone’s CBD after the development application was approved by Gladstone Regional Council.
The Oaks Hotels and Resorts nine storey motel, featuring two levels of car parking, will be situated behind the Grand Hotel with site access from Central Lane and Roseberry St.
Councillor Craig Butler, said council had previously issued approvals in 1999 and 2001 for an eight storey, 120 room motel which lapsed in May, 2009.
“It will be great to see this development get under way as the motel will be highly beneficial to local business houses in the CBD area,” he said.
