Webjet managing director John Guscic said the OTA will continue to reject requests from accommodation providers not to undercut them on rates.
“We price our hotels as we see fit. We sell at a price I determine. That’s competition, we love competition,” said Mr Guscic. “We have no agreements with anyone that precludes me from selling at a specific price.”
Webjet has no specific agreements with accommodation providers as it acquires its room inventory from third party suppliers and discounts these by around 12.5%.
The OTA is Australia’s largest online air seller and began selling accommodation last year. Mr Guscic says Webjet is turning over $2 million a month in rooms.
