Two Hotels for Sale, One With Ghosts

NSW publican Chris Crawley has put the iconic inner-city Marlborough Hotel in Newtown up for sale.

It joins the Jacksons on George hotel at Circular Quay Mr Crawley placed on the market seven months ago without gaining a buyer. His Jordon’s Seafood Restaurant at Darling Harbour is also for sale.

Mr Crawley’s hotel company, J&J O’Brien, also owns The Belvedere Hotel in the CBD, and Cohibar and the Watershed Hotel, both in Darling Harbour.

The selling agent for the Marlborough Hotel is Mike Wheatley from Knight Frank.

Also on the market is the historic bluestone Elephant Bridge Hotel (Pictured above) in Darlington that was built in 1842. It comes with seven bedrooms, bar, lounge, separate dining room and four ghosts.

The hotel, with its ghost reputation, goes up for auction on 18 August.

Elders Camperdown and Mortlake real estate manager Rob Rickard said he’d heard of the four ghosts but he hadn’t been formally introduced.

The hotel is set on 0.4ha fronting the Mt Emu Creek and is expected to sell between $220,000 and $320,000.
