Huge WA hotel project suspended

Construction of the 682-room The Landing hotel opposite Port Hedland airport in Western Australia has been suspended after BHP Billiton put the developers, Port Village Accommodation and its majority owner Centauri, into receivership

with alleged debts of $50 million.

Ernst & Young has been appointed as receiver.

It is understood that negotiations with a potential buyer were in progress at the time the receiver was appointed.

The Landing was being built by Melbourne-based Hickory Group.
