RACT acquires Federal’s regional businesses

Tasmania’s RACT will take over a number of tourism businesses it is acquiring from the Federal Group in January.

Chief executive Harvey Lennon said the RACT board had agreed to the arrangements around the purchase of the Federal’s Freycinet Lodge, Cradle Mountain Chateau, Strahan Village and Gordon River Cruises.

Mr Lennon said, “The strength of the RACT brand provides us with the opportunity to extend this value into new areas, like tourism.”

“With the completion and successful signing of contracts in the near future, we expect that the transfer of businesses will occur early in the new year,” Mr Lennon said.

Mr Lennon said all affected staff members would keep their jobs.
Federal will retain Wrest Point Casino, Launceston Country Club, Saffire resort at Freycinet and the Henry Jones Art Hotel.
