Westin to run 350-room Perth hotel

Westin Perth

Perth is to get a 350-room, five-star hotel to be built by BGC. It will be operated by the Starwood Group under its Westin brand. It is set to open in 2017.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services’ former head office – left empty when the department moved last year – will be demolished for the new hotel aimed at easing the accommodation squeeze in Perth where occupancy rates are at 83 per cent.

Tourism minister Liza Harvey said, “The hotel will deliver a massive boost for tourism, providing much-needed rooms in Perth’s CBD for leisure and corporate visitors to The Westin will have a rooftop swimming pool and bar, a ground floor retail plaza and a 20-storey office building.

BGC managing director Julian Ambrose said, “We are very excited to partner with the internationally-renowned Starwood brand and other project partners to develop a precinct that will revitalise and rejuvenate the eastern, and heritage side of the city.”
