Great Keppel for redevelopment

Golfing great Greg Norman has announced details of a $2 billion multi-faceted Green Globe certified resort project on Great Keppel Island and is appealing to back the billion-dollar redevelopment.

Tower Holdings is planning to construct an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Norman, 700 luxury villas, 350 luxury apartments, a beachfront hotel/casino at Fisherman’s Beach, a marina, an airstrip and a retail village. There would also be a 575ha environmental protection area.

Great Keppel Island closed in 2008 after 40 years of operation. Greg Norman is the global ambassador for the project and his Great White Shark Enterprises and JLL have been engaged to source international investors. Moelis & Co has been engaged as lead financial advisor to the project.

Tower Holdings CEO Terry Agnew said the investor campaign was being launched at a time when Australia was seeking crucial investment in five-star tourism product to meet the demands and expectations from the booming Asian travel market.
