Golf club to build resort

Queensland’s Parkwood International Golf Club is about to undergo a $100 million dollar redevelopment that will include a 4½-star resort, personal training college, plus massive indoor sports and medical centre.

Club general manager Luke Altschwager said owners had already pumped $5 million into the Napper Rd complex since buying it from a Korean syndicate in 2010 for $4.1 million. Now plans for a massive second stage have been lodged with council.

“This will help make Parkwood into a destination, rather than just a golf course,” he said. “I firmly believe if golf courses are going to survive in the long-term, they need multi-revenue streams.

Mr Altschwager said a 210-room, four-storey eco-resort on the western side of the Napper Rd site was central to the plan.
