Health retreat for national park

Point Nepean is set for a $100 million redevelopment for a section of the national park into a health retreat, marine education centre and luxury accommodation.

Premier Denis Napthine has revealed details of a successful bid to revamp Point Nepean Quarantine Station. He said on Friday [July 18] that the proposal by Point Leisure Group would take place on 4 per cent of the national.

The move is part of a controversial state government push to open up two thirds of Victoria’s national parks for “nature-based” tourism development.

The plan includes a coastal discovery centre, a health and wellness centre, luxury and camping-style accommodation, shops, cafés and restaurants and a heritage museum.
