Unique Design Adelaide Complex Planned

The Palladio Property Group has lodged plans with the SA Development Assessment Commission for a 152-apartment development on Angas St, Adelaide that dispenses with traditional corridors and lobbies.

The $80 million complex will comprise two buildings of eight and 13 storeys either side of Queen St.

Architect Paul Pruszinski said residents would reach their apartments by way of outdoor bridges and common garden areas on each floor. The proposal forms part of a trend among developers realising that many Adelaideans need the lure of suburban comforts to draw them to city living and promoting a level of neighbourliness usually not possible in high-rise designs.

The complex has been scaled back from Palladio’s 2012 proposal for the site consisting of six buildings as high as 19 storeys.

Currently Adelaide has seven tower projects worth $300 million approved in the last six months by DAC.
