Art Series to brand Story Bridge hotel

Brisbane City Council has awarded the 99-year lease for the Howard Smith Wharves to Queensland-based HSW Consortium for an expected $528 million over the duration of the lease.

Top of the development list is a 150-room 5-star boutique hotel, operated by the Asian Pacific Group under its Art Series brand. Plans call for a six-storey complex on the city side of the Story Bridge. A marina will also be built while existing heritage buildings and the wharf will be converted into restaurants.

HSW Consortium is managed by Adam Flaskas and Elisha Bickle and have confirmed $100 million development was fully funded.

A development application is expected to be lodged within six months with construction to begin “as soon as possible”.

“We will have an 18-month build and we want to be finished by mid 2017,” said Ms Bickle.

HSW also plans to build a craft brewery on the site while one heritage building would be converted into 1500m² function and event space.
