Another “original Gold Coast high rise” may be doomed to the same fate as the Iluka that has been demolished.
The Apollo, built in 1967, has had a chequered history but the present owner since 1993, Singaporean entrepreneur Gertrude Guok is believed to have put the desirable Esplanade 3833m² site on the market. Now known as the International Beach Resort, the 22-storey, 120-apartment building was acquired through Ms Guok’s company Phoenix Investment Holdings from Japanese group Koshin.
