625 unit complex for Melbourne CBD

Sydney-based Dexus Property Group is lobbying Vctorian planning minister Richard Wynne to replace a 10-level car park opposite Birrarung Marr in Flinders St with two apartment towers, the tallest rising 65 levels.

A smaller proposed tower of 11 levels will also be fitted on to the 2087m² block.

The value of the Dexus project that would include 625 apartments, is estimated at more than $500 million. It replaces a relatively more modest application unveiled last year, which sought to build 549 apartments.

If developed, the project would be Dexus’s first foray into residential. Late last year the company signalled it might sell the Melbourne CBD site if it obtained the permit.
