Biggera Waters complex approved
The Gold Coast City Council planning committee has finally approved a mega-development at Biggera Waters after nearly a year of negotiations between the developers and council.
The Runaway Shores project, by Malcolm Corry’s Marina Shores Developments, is to be built on a Biggera Waters 2.75ha site and will have eight buildings of 6-18 levels containing 675 apartments.
Residents around the development have fought a long-running battle against the development and its overshadowing affects. Despite toning down the development’s size, a council report revealed the project will cast significant shadows over the neighbouring resorts. The area is also prone to flooding, according to a GCCC report.
The land earmarked for the development is owned by the Lewis Land Group, holders of nearby Harbour Town.
