Packer’s Barangaroo resort doubles in size

Crown’s revised concept plan for Barangaroo South has finally been lodged with the state government and is more than twice the size of the previously approved hotel. over the harbour, according to a plan officially lodged with the state government.

James Packer’s $2 billion development will have a total floor space of more than 681,000m² – more than double the 330,000m² proposed in the original 2005 design with the casino-hotel complex taking 77,500m².

Crown Resorts said it would now begin its own planning applications with the Department of Planning and Environment.

Lend Lease’s Barangaroo South residential towers have been designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano had been enlisted to design the three towers with a combined total of 750 apartments. Lend Lease’ Andrew Wilson said the 250m, 220m and 107m apartment blocks were intended to compliment James Packer’s 270-275m Crown Casino & Hotel

The hotel and casino will be located on land originally planned as parkland before Lend Lease agreed to a state government request to move the hotel over the harbour back onshore.
