Westin Perth gets go-ahead

The City of Perth Local Development Assessment Panel has approved the $500 million Westin Hotel in the CBD.

BGC Development’s 362-room hotel is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

A 22-storey office tower will be a key part of the development.

WA tourism minister Kim Hames said, “Demand for hotel rooms in Perth has traditionally been driven by the corporate market but with the city undergoing the biggest transformation in its history, its popularity as a leisure tourism destination will also increase.”

Dr Hames said the state government’s hotel incentive policy had a goal to add 1900 hotel rooms to the Perth CBD by 2020.
