Hilton has announced the signing of Hilton Garden Inn Townsville, adding to Hilton Garden Inn’s fast-growing portfolio of 91 hotels operating across Asia Pacific. Under a management agreement with HHNQ Pty Ltd, Hilton will manage the 190-room hotel located in the beautiful coastal city of Townsville in northern Queensland.

Surrounded by a myriad of natural wonders including the Great Barrier Reef and tropical rainforests, Townsville is home to many government services, predominantly in the health and education sectors, and is also one of Australia’s largest military bases.

Due to complete by early 2026, Hilton Garden Inn Townsville will be centrally located, alongside the new 25,000-seat Queensland Country Bank stadium, and within walking distance to many retail outlets, restaurants, and cafes.

The hotel will feature 190 guest rooms, a restaurant and bar, meeting rooms, a fully equipped gym, and a swimming pool.

Tushar Raniga, director, development, Australasia, Hilton, said, “It brings us great joy to collaborate with HHNQ and introduce Hilton Garden Inn to the thriving city of Townsville. The hotel will be modular constructed, which is a great way to reduce construction time and lower building costs.

“The Hilton Garden Inn brand is experiencing swift expansion throughout Australasia, boasting three operational hotels and an additional six in the pipeline that will triple our presence over the next five years.”

Michael Graham, director, HHNQ, said, “We are excited to be working with Hilton to deliver the first Hilton branded hotel in Townsville. The city of Townsville has undergone significant growth since 2020 and is steadily becoming an economic powerhouse supported by a favourable tropical climate and a renewed interest in regional tourism.

“We know Hilton Garden Inn will be a major asset for the city and one which both locals and visitors can expect reliable, friendly stays and top-tier hospitality from. With construction costs continuing to place pressure on projects in the region, we have also taken a position to support the global trend in modular construction and will be working with a major international manufacturer to deliver all hotel rooms in a modular format.”

Across Australasia, Hilton has 32 trading hotels and 10 in the pipeline.
