Hospitality New Zealand chief executive Kristy Phillips said the awards continue to shine a light on operators setting the pace for the industry.
“The awards provide an opportunity to showcase success stories, recognise outstanding leadership, innovation and customer experience, and celebrate the creativity and resilience of New Zealand’s hospitality and accommodation sector,” Phillips said.
“We are always blown away by the calibre of entries, and this year is no exception. Not only are these people and places powering our industry, they’re also inspiring the next generation.”
This year’s finalists span a broad cross-section of the market, from high-profile venues such as Botswana Butchery Queenstown and kingi, to newer entrants including 1866 Speakeasy Bar, Little Savanna and Wilderness Lodge Arthurs Pass.
Finalists were assessed by independent judges against a range of criteria including innovation, sustainability and service, earning them national recognition among their peers.
The announcement also opens voting for the People’s Choice Awards, giving the public an opportunity to support their favourite finalists.
Winners will be revealed during the HNZ26 Conference, to be held in Rotorua across two evenings on June 23 and 24. The event will bring together hundreds of industry professionals for two days of networking, discussion and sector-focused content.
The awards programme is split across two key categories. The People’s Awards for Excellence, sponsored by DB Breweries, recognises individuals across the industry, from emerging talent through to established leaders. The Business Awards, sponsored by LION, focus on venues delivering standout performance in areas such as innovation, sustainability and overall guest experience.
LION chief operating officer and New Zealand country director Craig Baldie said the finalists reflect the strength of the sector.
“The finalists showcase the exceptional talent, innovation, and dedication in our industry. They are truly world class, and we look forward to celebrating their leadership and achievements,” he said.
Managing director of DB Breweries Peter Hart added that recognising people remains central to the awards.
“The people are what drive the industry to success and it’s a privilege to celebrate those who create unforgettable experiences,” he said.
