Belmo Group expands into Hunter Valley with landmark luxury hotel management appointment
Expansion marks a significant step for Belmo Group as it moves further into the premium luxury hotel sector
Brisbane-based Belmo Group has expanded its growing accommodation portfolio into the Hunter Valley after being appointed to manage Laval, a new luxury hotel and wellness destination set to open in 2027.
The appointment by HVL Hotels marks a significant step for Belmo Group as it moves further into the premium luxury hotel sector, with the project tipped to become one of the most substantial luxury developments in the region in more than two decades.

Located on the historic Ben Ean Estate in Pokolbin, Laval will feature 65 guest rooms set across a 165-acre property overlooking vineyards and the Brokenback Range.
The development will include a thermal spa and doctor-led rejuvenation centre, a Mediterranean-style restaurant, poolside cocktail bar, and flexible event facilities catering for up to 150 guests.
Belmo Group Chief Executive Officer David Assef said the appointment reflected the company’s continued evolution in the luxury hospitality space.
“Over the past 15 years the Belmo Group’s success as a premier provider of bespoke management services for corporate and leisure hotels and premium residential developments is embedded in our tailored approach to each property’s distinctive brand identity,” Assef said.
“Laval is a once-in-a-generation property. The Hunter Valley hasn’t seen a luxury hotel of this calibre open in a quarter of a century and Laval changes the conversation entirely.
“Combining world-class design, an extraordinary natural setting, and a bold cultural vision, Laval will put the Hunter Valley firmly on the map for discerning travellers.”
Under the agreement, Belmo Group will oversee all operational aspects of the property including guest experience, food and beverage, spa operations, sales and marketing, revenue management, recruitment, and team culture.
Founded in Brisbane in 2011, Belmo Group says its leadership team brings together more than 60 years of combined experience across hotel operations, property development, and asset management throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Laval is scheduled to open in the second half of 2027 and is expected to add a new level of luxury accommodation and wellness tourism to the Hunter Valley region.
