Quest Southport opens, adding 90 apartment-style stays to growing Gold Coast precinct

BREAKING NEWS: Quest Southport opens on the Gold Coast with 90 apartment-style apartments, rooftop pool, self-contained accommodation and easy light rail access.

Quest Apartment Hotels has opened its newest Gold Coast property, Quest Southport, adding 90 apartment-style rooms to one of Queensland’s fastest-growing business and lifestyle precincts.

Opening today, the purpose-built apartment hotel features a rooftop swimming pool overlooking the Gold Coast skyline, alongside studios through to three-bedroom apartments designed for both business and leisure travellers.

Located at 29-31 Lather Street, Southport, the property includes accessible accommodation options, a fitness centre, guest laundry and secure on-site parking. Every apartment features either a kitchenette or fully equipped kitchen, offering guests the flexibility to self-cater during short or extended stays.

The opening comes as Southport continues to establish itself as a major commercial, education and health hub, home to the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct, Griffith University, major legal and government offices, and an expanding retail and dining scene. The nearby G light rail provides direct access to Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and other key Gold Coast destinations.

David Mansfield, Managing Director of The Ascott Limited Australasia, which includes the Quest Apartment Hotels brand, said the opening reflects growing demand for apartment-style accommodation.

“Travellers are increasingly looking for accommodation that gives them more – more space, more flexibility, more of a home base,” Mansfield said.

“Apartment-style stays have always made practical sense for business travellers and project teams, but we’re seeing strong demand from leisure travellers and families too. Quest Southport offers all of that, in a location that genuinely has it all.”

The property has been developed by the Vecchio Group, marking the family’s second Quest development.

The business traces its origins to founder John Vecchio, who arrived in Australia in 1960 with five pounds sterling before building a successful construction business from the ground up. His son, structural engineer Sam Vecchio, later expanded the business into residential, retail and hotel developments. The family’s first Quest property, at Breakfast Creek, was created during the Global Financial Crisis after unsold apartments were converted into an apartment hotel.

Managing Director Sam Vecchio said the family remained committed to long-term investment in Southport.

“We invest in places we believe in, and we’re in Southport for the long term – not building to sell,” he said.

“We wanted an asset that would hold its quality for decades, and Quest’s corporate model gives us that. The property looks after itself when the people running it have genuine skin in the game.”

Quest Southport will be operated by local franchisee Fleur Nadzielski, who said the opening represented her third Quest property.

“Opening Quest Southport is an incredibly proud milestone for me,” Nadzielski said.

“As a Gold Coast local, I’m especially excited to bring this new property to market in the community I proudly call home.

“I look forward to welcoming guests, creating local opportunities and contributing to the continued growth of Southport and the wider Gold Coast region.”

Quest Southport is the latest addition to Australia’s largest apartment hotel network, which operates more than 120 properties nationwide. It is one of three Quest properties opening in 2026 as the brand works towards operating more than 200 Quest properties and 30 managed hotels nationally by 2030.
