TFE Hotels has announced a $100 million investment across its first-generation Adina apartment hotels, continuing the evolution and growth of the Adina brand. In addition to new hotels across Australia, Europe and the United Kingdom, the investment program is designed to reposition some of its best-known hotels.
The initiative will see guest rooms, public spaces and hotel amenities upgraded across key properties in Australia and Europe, with a focus on design, comfort and the apartment-style experience Adina is known for.

“The Adina brand and experience are evolving as travellers increasingly look for hotels that can provide both the living experience with full hotel services and amenities,” said TFE Hotels’ Chief Executive Officer, Antony Ritch. “In addition to our owned hotels, we’re working closely with our third party hotel owners to elevate the guest experience by leaning into what makes Adina unique – generous liveable spaces, relaxed Australian hospitality, and an elevated design approach.”
“Whether you’re in Darling Harbour or Darwin and Berlin or Budapest, we want Adina guests to ultimately feel like they’ve found their own sanctuary of space – even when they’re far from home.”
According to Ritch, the Adina brand experience is also evolving with purpose. “With new hotels opening in Brisbane, Hobart, Cambridge and Glasgow, the rollout of our new Adina brand activations, and the implementation of a digital Guest Experience Platform across the portfolio, we’re delivering a more connected, design-led and guest-centric experience,” he said. “This next chapter reflects our commitment to invest in where traveller expectations are heading.”

Adina’s Darling Harbour revival
Following a multi-million-dollar reinvestment as part of TFE Hotels’ broader commitment to revitalising its first-generation Adina portfolio, Adina Darling Harbour has been reimagined as a contemporary harbourside retreat that reconnects guests with Sydney’s iconic waterfront.
Designed by Bates Smart, the 114-room hotel draws inspiration from Darling Harbour’s natural history, with layered textures, organic forms and a palette of harbour blues, seafoam greens, and oyster shell tones. The refurbishment extends beyond the guest rooms, opening up a new restaurant to the lobby and pool areas to create a seamless flow that encourages guests to move effortlessly between the hotel and the harbour beyond.

Marking 26 years since first opening ahead of the Sydney 2000 Olympics, the transformation positions Adina Darling Harbour for a new generation of travellers while staying true to the brand.
Adina Darling Harbour follows recent investment across the Adina network, including Adina Perth, where a multi-million-dollar refurbishment drew on the colours and landscapes of Western Australia to bring a stronger sense of place to the hotel, and the top-to-bottom refurbishment of Adina Town Hall in Sydney last year.

Adina invests in refurbishments across Europe
Adina is continuing to elevate its guest experience across Europe, with significant refurbishment projects underway in Germany and recently completed in Hungary.
In Frankfurt, Adina Frankfurt Neue Oper is undergoing a comprehensive 12-month refurbishment program, which commenced in January and will transform the hotel’s 134 spacious apartments and public areas. Guided by Adina’s casual living philosophy, the refreshed interiors will feature ethically sourced natural materials, including timber and stone, complemented by warm lighting, eclectic furnishings and curated artwork from local and Australian artists. Public spaces will be reimagined as welcoming, gallery-inspired environments, incorporating upcycled décor and design elements that reflect the brand’s relaxed character.
“At its heart, the new look aims to create a home away from home for guests, with open, welcoming lobbies and seamless connections to bar and restaurant areas,” said Moritz Klein, TFE’s Head of Operations for EU and the UK. “ESG principles are embedded throughout the design, ensuring sustainability through timeless quality and responsible sourcing.”

Meanwhile, Adina Budapest has recently completed a nine-month refurbishment program, unveiling a refreshed contemporary design across 75 guest rooms in the main wing and its public spaces. The redesign embraces a calming, earth-toned palette, featuring olive-toned ceilings accented by vibrant yellow highlights, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflects both Budapest’s character and Adina’s signature style.
“The response from our guests has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Hotel General Manager, Angéla Gergye. “Not only have guests embraced the new look, but they continue to appreciate the comfort and spaciousness that Adina is known for.”

Adina Budapest caters to business and leisure travellers and is superbly located just a short stroll from the Danube River and the WestEnd City Centre and Lehel tér market, and close to Margaret Island with its famous thermal baths.
Together, the projects reflect Adina’s ongoing commitment to investing in its European portfolio, enhancing guest experiences through thoughtful design, sustainability-focused improvements and the spacious apartment-style accommodation the brand is known for.
These Adinas – and more in the refurbishment pipeline including apartment-style properties in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Singapore – mark a confident new chapter for Australia’s homegrown apartment hotel brand.
