Eco Suites Canberra will introduce a collection of luxury triple-glazed glass geodesic dome suite experiences not seen in Australia
Australia’s tourism industry is set to welcome a new benchmark in luxury nature-based accommodation with the launch of Eco Suites Australia and its flagship destination, Eco Suites Canberra.
Located on the pristine shores of Canberra’s heritage-listed Lake Burley Griffin, Eco Suites Canberra will introduce a collection of luxury triple-glazed glass geodesic dome suite experiences not seen in Australia, offering year-round overnight accommodation.
The development also represents a significant milestone for tourism experiences in the nation’s capital, having secured the first-ever approval for overnight commercial accommodation on the shores of heritage-listed Lake Burley Griffin.

Positioned at Yarramundi Peninsula on Ngunnawal Country, where the foothills of the National Arboretum Canberra meet the lake, the exclusive sanctuary will offer just three architecturally designed glass geodesic dome suites positioned on raised decks. Each suite combines panoramic water views with premium interiors, private ensuite amenities, advanced off-grid infrastructure and seamless high-tech integration.
Designed to operate off grid, Eco Suites Canberra will operate solar generation, battery storage, intelligent energy management, responsible water systems and low-impact waste solutions. Technology will operate discreetly in the background, allowing guests to experience the comforts of a luxury hotel surrounded by nature.
Inside each suite, integrated smart technology will support a highly seamless yet personalised guest experience. Private ensuites, smart glass technology, automated climate control, intelligent lighting, remote monitoring, digital guest services and connected in-room systems will provide convenience without distracting from the surrounding landscape.
The transparent architectural design will place guests within the natural environment while retaining the privacy, comfort and detail expected of a premium retreat, using smart glass technology.
A signature experience is the opening roof above the bed, allowing guests to experience Canberra’s clear night skies and the Milky Way from bed.

The project demonstrates how advanced renewable energy systems and smart accommodation technology can support luxury tourism in sensitive natural locations. Rather than asking guests to compromise, the design uses innovation to improve comfort, reduce environmental impact and create a more responsive stay.
The approval of overnight accommodation on Lake Burley Griffin marks an important evolution in Canberra’s visitor economy, which is on track to meet the ACT Government 2030 target of $4 billion visitor expenditure based on the latest data from Tourism Research Australia (TRA) for the year ending March 2026.

We are also extremely grateful for the support of the National Capital Authority (NCA) board for entrusting Eco Suites Canberra to invite all Australians and international visitors to experience the National Capital like never before.”
Construction of Eco Suites Canberra is underway. Eco Suites Australia has partnered with ACT-based Veteran and Indigenous-owned company 18Fifty3 Group, specialists in environmental, specialist infrastructure and civil construction.
The first guests are expected to be welcomed in December 2026.
