Tamworth Hotel Sold by Receivers
The Longyard Hotel in Tamworth, put up for sale by tender by administrators, has been acquired by The Pub Group is headed by former funeral director Bevan Douglas and his wife, Joan, and now has five hotels in its corporate stable. The price has been speculated at around $6 million.
The hotel was placed in the hands of receivers in February and had been run by the administrators since then.
He said he had only been notified last week of the success of the bid and that it was too early to speculate on what plans the couple had for the hotel.
The Douglas family first went into pubs with the building and opening of The Pub in Taminda in 1989.
