Far North Queensland is likely to host a $1 million-plus high-level European travel agent seminar involving nearly 500 people in 2013.
Tourism Tropical North Queensland has been invited to prepare a submission for the 2013 UK-Europe Corroboree Trade Event. TTNQ chief executive officer Rob Giason said the organisation and the industry would be pulling out all stops to snare the event.
“This is a very prestigious and important event. We really want it,” he said.
UK-Europe Corroboree is a combined “mega familiarisation” and training workshop event exclusively for qualified Aussie specialist travel agents from retail outlets and key wholesalers/tour operators selling Australia as a destination.
The agents come from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Mr Giason said if the region’s bid was successful, the agents and their escorts from Tourism Australia and Tourism Queensland would be in Cairns for five nights/six days as well as a one-day tour of the region.
