Maldew, owners of the Lennox Hotel at Lennox Head, is nearing completion of a $2 million upgrade to create modern facilities that will target a growing conference and wedding market in the beachside resort.

Maldew, owned by NSW investors Gregory and Clyde Campbell, bought the hotel for $14 million in 2005. The refurbishment includes new conference facilities to cater for more than 200 guests, restaurant and catering facilities and bars, follows upgrades to the Pacific Highway and the introduction of direct flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Ballina.

The Lennox Hotel recently finished the first stage of its redevelopment which included a refurbishment of the public bar. The next stage, already under way will include a redevelopment of the second floor of the hotel to include facilities tailored to business functions and wedding receptions.

Hotel spokesman Troy Lister said, “We are investing as a result of increased inquiries from those looking for an alternative experience to the more traditional destinations.”

Mr Lister said the area’s diverse dining options, recreational activities and recent accommodation nearby upgrades had created the right environment to capture conferences and weddings.
