Perth-Beijing Links Begin in November

China Southern Airlines will begin direct flights between China and Perth in November this year with three flights per week using A330-300 aircraft.

The flights will originate in Beijing with a short transit stop in Guangzhou, before flying non-stop to Perth.

The new route is said to boost tourism in Western Australia and strengthen ties between Australia and China. Currently WA attracts around 15,000 Chinese visitors a year and it is forecast that by 2020 WA will host around 100,000 Chinese visitors a year, making it WA’s second largest international visitor market, behind the UK.

The Tourism Council WA is coordinating a series of ‘China ready’ workshops to help prepare local operators to cater for Chinese visitors. Tourism minister Kim Hames will lead an industry delegation to China next month to meet key outbound Chinese operators and hold workshops and networking sessions.
