Tassie Winners at AHA Awards

Tasmania’s minister for tourism and hospitality, Scott Bacon this week congratulated the owners, management and staff of Saffire at Freycinet and Launceston’s Stillwater River Cafe on their success at the Australian Hotel Association’s National Awards for Excellence gala dinner.

Mr Bacon said Stillwater’s national award for the Best Stand-Alone Restaurant, and Saffire’s two national awards for Best Deluxe Hotel and Hotel of the Year (Accommodation) are a great result for Tasmania. “They prove that our leading hospitality and tourism businesses are delivering the level of service, quality and style that’s clearly up there with the best in the country,” Mr Bacon said.

“Tasmania’s tourism and hospitality industry should be proud of the example that Stillwater and Saffire are setting to the rest of the nation in terms of what our state has to offer.

“It’s fantastic to see Stillwater River Cafe leading the way in fine cuisine in Launceston, congratulations are definitely in order to the owners and their staff for taking out the national award. I would also like to acknowledge that the owners of Stillwater have also been recognised as employers of choice.

And for Saffire to win two awards including one of the major national awards for the Best Hotel of the Year is fantastic recognition of this new ultra-premium Tasmanian holiday experience. Not only have they developed an amazing array of properties and experiences for visitors and locals, but they have also invested in employing Tasmanians and marketing their tourism experiences and destinations, both interstate and overseas.”
