Hotel Expansion Blocked by Darwinians
Darwin residents have managed to stop an inner-city hotel doubling in size. Residents argued that adding 90 motel units to the 51-room Botanic Gardens Apartments in Darwin was “excessive”.
The expansion would have entailed raising the four-storey complex in Geranium St to eight storeys.
The Development Consent Authority rejected the proposal saying the expanded motel was not in keeping with the area.
