Bundaberg gets new backpackers, holiday park
Bundaberg’s Grand Hotel is to be refurbished and turned into a backpacker hostel.
Construction of the 120-bed backpacker hostel with a beer garden and refurbished bars will begin early next year.
Grand Hotel manager Steve Colley said, “At 120 beds we will be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, in the city and of course they’re all brand new.”
Also in Bundaberg, the Winfield tourist park will feature 32 two-bedroom self-contained cabins and 32 camping and caravan sites, as well as a convenience shop with a dining area and an indoor recreation area.
The park is estimated to cost about $2 million to build and is expected to be one of the major tourist developments in the Bundaberg area
