Hope for Headlands Hotel sale
A consortium of hoteliers are believed to be interested in purchasing the iconic Headlands Hotel at Austinmer
near Wollongong.
The consortium owners include advertising mogul John Singleton, investment banker Mark Carnegie, retail magnate Gerry Harvey and former Qantas chief executive Geoff Dixon bought high-profile Sydney pubs including Kinselas, the Bellevue Hotel and Peakhurst Inn. Mr Singleton also jointly owns the Hotel Steyne in Manly.
Expressions of interest for the Headlands site that includes a licensed hotel close at 4pm on November 23.
Colliers International Wollongong managing director Simon Kersten said more than 40 interested parties had lodged an inquiry since October 22. Sale proceeds are unlikely to cover the $16.1 million owed by Thirroul Property Holdings, the business behind the hotel, to more than a dozen creditors.
