Gold Coast City Council’s planning committee approved plans for a 140-room motel in Helensvale
with a restaurant and tourist shop in Siganto Drive. Committee chair Ted Shepherd said, ”Tourism industry stakeholders will welcome a new motel as localised accommodation certainly encourages additional spend.”
Cr Shepherd, said the plan included two four-storey buildings connected via pedestrian bridges, a mix of one and two-bedroom units with balconies, and communal open space with a pool, terrace and gardens.
