Noosa shines again after gloomy start to 2011
The year is ending on a strong note for a number of Noosa holiday properties after a poor start to 2011.
A number of management rights operators are seeing tremendous growth in bookings, although yields were lower than before the GFC, while quality properties have managed to maintain business at stronger levels than have been seen for a number of years. A survey of management rights holders in Noosa revealed that many have had the best September – October – November in five years.
A well-known Hasting Street complex reported occupancy rates well up on last year while maintaining or increasing its net nightly tariffs with a growth of 5% recorded in August and 12% in October and November compared with the previous year.
The managers of the Lookout Noosa, a boutique complex overlooking Laguna Bay, reported an average 73% occupancy over the last three months with strong advance bookings into the next few months while a Noosaville operator says he has had the best six months in six years.
While not all operators have been as fortunate, having to discount tariffs to maintain occupancy, most well-positioned complexes had seen strong growth and were positive in their outlook.
Resort Brokers Australia’s Sunshine Coast office has announced the winners of its 2011 Management Rights Awards made in recognition of the operator’s commitment to the industry in a tough environment, the quality and presentation of their facilities and the focus of their marketing efforts.
Two categories were chosen to best reflect areas where resident managers had the most opportunity within the tightly regulated management right’s structure to stand out and exceed industry standards.
The winners were:
• Best Presented Complex – Offshore Noosa Resort
• Best Marketed Complex – Skippers Cove Noosaville
I fully expect to see a continued improvement in Noosa occupancy rates in 2012.
