Mantra Mooloolaba Beach

“The conference market is a growing segment for us,” said Ryan Newton, the area general manager for the Mantra Group on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

“At Mantra Mooloolaba Beach we have enhanced our resort’s stylish atmosphere — perfect for conducting business — with a major refurbishment and technology upgrade of our conference and meeting facilities.”

The conference room, of international standard, is now ‘cutting edge’ in terms of the venue, its quality and the in-house audio visual equipment, which seats 200 theatre style or 120 classroom or cabaret.

Mr Newton continued, “To entice the market to conference at one of the Sunshine Coast’s most desired meeting locations and experience our enhancements first hand, we are offering a conference special with bonus offers not to be missed.”

Mr Newton oversees five Sunshine Coast Mantra Group properties from the BreakFree Grand Pacific property at Caloundra all the way through to the BreakFree Alex Beach Resort at Alexandra Headlands. As well as the two BreakFree properties, there are three Mantra Group properties in Mooloolaba — Mantra Mooloolaba Beach, Mantra Sirocco and Mantra Zanzibar.

Mr Newton shared that he always wanted to be in hotel management even when he first entered the hospitality industry during his teenage years. His passion for the hospitality industry was partly fuelled by his early exposure to it as his family was in the industry.

“I had always aspired to be in hotel management and have worked tirelessly toward that goal, I feel extremely fortunate to have achieved that goal and thoroughly enjoy the diverse experiences the industry brings.” continued Mr Newton. “My first venture into hotels was at the then Watermark Radisson on the Gold Coast. Prior to entering the hotel game, I explored the food and beverage industry working in restaurants and bars during my teenage years.”

I went from the Watermark Gold Coast to the Gold Coast International; I then returned to the Watermark Group for six years including the opening of Watermark Brisbane, from there I joined the Mantra Group.”

With the Mantra Group, Mr Newton also spent three years in North Queensland, two years at Mantra PortSea in Port Douglas and 12 months at Peppers Beach Club and Spa in Palm Cove.

Located on the Esplanade and only 12km from the Sunshine Coast airport, Mantra Mooloolaba Beach features 16 levels of 175 fully furnished one-, two- and three-bedroom suites each with a private balcony offering sweeping ocean or garden views.

Onsite there is a variety of dining options as well as many leisure facilities including two swimming pools, a spa, sauna and fully equipped gym. For those that want to explore the Sunshine Coast, guests can take a walk along the beautiful Mooloolaba beachfront—voted the best in the region—or visit one of the many tourist attractions found close by, including Australia Zoo, UnderWater World or the Eumundi Markets.

Ideal for families, couples, corporate travellers or conference delegates, Mantra Mooloolaba Beach suites and apartments are comfortable, modern and spacious to ensure guests enjoy their stay.

“Our market base is diverse—domestic leisure is our key market segment and we attract international business out of New Zealand, Europe and the United States,” said Mr Newton. “Mantra Mooloolaba Beach is also perfectly suited to corporate/government and conference markets and we are continuing to build these segments.

“We cater very well for children in the two- and three-bedroom apartments. Mantra Mooloolaba Beach provides children with a ‘kid’s pack’ on arrival—crayons, stickers, colouring-in—the podium has a number of grassy areas so they can play safely there also.

“The business events industry and demand for conference venues on the Sunshine Coast is growing and we are active in that space. The refurbishment of our conference rooms is the perfect complement to our already refurbished apartments” said Mr Newton.

For that extra feeling of luxury the two- and three-bedroom penthouse apartments feature private rooftop access to a six person spa and barbecue facility providing the ultimate comfort during a holiday or business stopover in Mooloolaba. The penthouses feature a private balcony with impressive ocean views and full kitchen and laundry facilities.

For those visiting Mantra Mooloolaba Beach for a conference or a holiday, one can pamper oneself at day spa located downstairs in the resort. The certified staff, and owner, who has been a natural therapy practitioner for over 10 years, will indulge one’s senses offering a variety of treatments.
