Wollongong re-opens tourist centre

Tourism Wollongong has opened its newest visitor information hub – in the former tourist information centre on lower Crown St. The move comes more than two years

after the centre at Crown St was closed in favour of the Southern Gateway centre at Bulli Tops.

But after a rethink of the city’s tourism strategy last year, executives from Wollongong City Council and Tourism Wollongong agreed on the need for a central information hub within the CBD.

The venture, known as the iHUB, combines a tourist information centre on the ground floor, Tourism Wollongong administration on the first level and business incubator StartPad occupying the top floor.

Tourism Wollongong general manager Greg Binskin said the tourist information centre had been redeveloped to complement the services at the Southern Gateway Centre, not duplicate them.
