200 more rooms to become Australia’s biggest

Four Points by Sheraton in Sydney’s CBD is seeking approval for a 25-storey tower expansion.

The Philip Cox-designed tower would add 231 new rooms plus offices and a podium hosting functions and conferences. It would be built over the freeway and cost around $150 million.

With a podium for conventions, exhibitions and functions, the Four Points by Sheraton project will assist NSW in winning large group, corporate meeting, association and convention bids’, the proposal said.

It would meet a high demand for inner-city hotel rooms, convention facilities and office space, and complement a $1 billion overhaul of exhibition and convention facilities at Darling Harbour, the proposal stated.

Four Points by Sheraton is owned by Singapore-based EP2 Management. With 672 rooms, Four Points by Sheraton is Australia’s largest hotel and the expansion would bring it to more than 900 rooms.
