Camp Glenorchy leads the way for holiday park hospitality.
Holiday Parks New Zealand has recognised leaders in the sector, using advanced AI technology to analyse guest reviews and identify the most hospitable holiday park businesses.
Together, providers in the holiday park sector account for 36 percent of New Zealand’s commercial accomodation capacity. Now leading providers have been acknowledged with prestigious hospitality awards.
Hosted at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre in Marlborough, the awards night was back in person after being held online last year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Camp Glenorchy Eco Retreat was named the winner of the ReviewPro Spirit of Hospitality Award, securing its status as New Zealand’s most hospitable holiday park.
“Camp Glenorchy is a great example of a sustainable business which also provides top-notch customer service in a relatively remote environment,” said Holiday Parks New Zealand Chief Executive Fergus Brown.
Also recognised was Takapuna Beach Holiday Park, taking home the ReviewPro Most Improved Park Award.
Ashlee Ilton of Motueka TOP 10 Holiday Park was crowned the sector’s Emerging Star.
“Ashlee is a very determined and focused business owner who understands the value of community. She is constantly pushing herself to evaluate and improve not only her business, but also herself as a person,” judges said.
From Timaru TOP 10 Holiday Park, Alison and Gorden Collister, industry veterans of over 30 years, were honoured with the Outstanding Service to the Holiday Park Industry Award.
Mr Brown described the couple as “go-to people who are always generous with their time and willing to share their intelligent and thoughtful views to support others.”
For its creation of energy-efficient geodesic domes for glamping and events, The Camp Lake Hawea won the Rescue Best New Build over $100k Award, while the Resco Best Upgrade under $100k award went to North South Holiday Park and Taupo TOP 10 Holiday Park.
Recognised for other achievements were Riverton Holiday Park, Russell TOP 10 Holiday Park, Miranda Holiday Park, Orongo Bay Holiday Park and Magda Stasiewicz of Queenstown TOP 10 Holiday Park.
The awards night offered a great opportunity for New Zealand holiday park business to network and acknowledge industry achievements.
