Tourism industry encourages vaccination for Australians
COVID-19 vaccinations hold the key to travel industry recovery.
In a new campaign, Tourism Australia have encouraged Australians to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Suffering major losses as a result of lockdowns and travel restrictions, Australia’s tourism industry is now looking towards a post-COVID future, with Tourism Australia launching the “It’s our best shot for travel” vaccination campaign.
The campaign will include an industry toolkit to help tourism providers promote vaccination in their communities, and it is hoped that it will signal a turning point for tourism and accommodation businesses.
“Tourism businesses across Australia, regional and metropolitan, are in limbo without visitors and without a certain future, and the only solution to their predicament is for Australians to get vaccinated,” said Peter Shelley, managing director of the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC), who spoke out in support of the campaign.
“Vaccination is the only way we will be able to enjoy travel in Australia and internationally and to welcome back our international visitors and see our friends and family once again.”
After over 18 months of pandemic-related restrictions, tourism businesses are eager to get back to travel and hospitality.
Set to target would-be travellers, Tourism Australia’s latest campaign will be a step in the right direction when it comes to promoting vaccination and offering hope for industry recovery.
Mr Shelley said: “We welcome this positive initiative which will be well received and adopted broadly throughout tourism businesses nationwide.”
