From Maccas to the Crowne Plaza Adelaide

Shaun Parsons takes on GM role for SA property

Following a 14-year tenure with the Marriott/Starwood group in the Middle East, Shaun Parsons has returned to Australia to take on the role of general manager at the Crowne Plaza Adelaide.

It’s a far cry from where Mr Parsons started as a high school student working in his local McDonalds before beginning an apprenticeship in the kitchens of the Regent in Melbourne (now Sofitel), followed by a role with the Grand Hyatt Melbourne banqueting team.

Announcing the appointment, Crowne Plaza Adelaide owner, Theo Samaras welcomed Mr Parson’s extensive experience.

This most recently includes a multi-property GM role overseeing six hotels in Dubai including the 5-star Le Meridien Dubai Hotel and Conference Centre, Le Meridien Fairway and pre-opening responsibilities for Aloft and Element Garhoud and Aloft and Element Al Raffa.

He joined Marriott/Starwood group in the Middle East in 2006 in a position that required a strong F&B skillset before moving into a hotel manager role across the Mina Seyahi Complex which consists of two world-class 5-star beach resorts and marina complex.

Mr Parsons also had responsibility for Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi before returning to Dubai in 2015 to lead the iconic Le Meridien Dubai Complex.
