Marriott unveils plans for first all-suite hotel in Melbourne

Move underscores company’s commitment to strengthening Australian footprint

Marriott International has announced its plans to introduce the first Marriott Executive Apartments to Australia.

The slated 180-key, all-suite hotel will be part of a mixed-use development comprising approximately 244 fully residential apartments with premium amenities and services located on Melbourne’s famous St Kilda Road.

Work on the $170 million hotel mixed-use project’s construction is due to commence in 2024 with an opening date scheduled for mid-2026.

The apartments will be located at 472-474 St Kilda Road, Melbourne, just three kilometres from Melbourne’ CBD. With parkland bordering either side of the precinct, the site offers close proximity to corporate and leisure demand generators in Melbourne including the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Crown Casino, Royal Botanic Gardens and St Kilda Beach.

The announcement follows the signing of an agreement with Melbourne-based Sunnyland Investment Group, a privately owned property development company specialising in large-scale commercial and residential real-estate developments.

Marriott International Vice President Hotel Development, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific,  Richard Crawford said the company is thrilled to work with Sunnyland Investment Group to bring Marriott Executive Apartments to Australia, the move providing an elevated accommodation experience for business and leisure travellers looking for an extended stay with all the comforts they expect from Marriott International.

Echoing his comments, Marriott International Area Vice President, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Sean Hunt said the development further underscores Marriott’s long-term commitment in strengthening its footprint in Australia.

“Despite the challenges our industry has faced over the last 25 months, we have opened W Melbourne, Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands, and Courtyard by Marriott Melbourne Flagstaff Gardens, adding three hotels to Melbourne this year – bringing our total number of hotels in Melbourne to eight.”

The Marriott Executive Apartments concept offers an elevated serviced apartment experience, designed to meet corporate travellers’ long stay lodging needs.

The elegant studios, 1-bedroom and dual key apartments, offer all the comforts guests expect, with separate sleeping, living and working areas, and gourmet kitchens.
