Average occupancy for the period Thursday to Sunday (April 07-10) reached 89 percent, peaking at 94 percent on Saturday night.
This represents the market’s highest daily occupancy since November 30, 2019 as well as the highest occupancy for any major Australian capital since New Year’s Eve 2019.
STR’s Regional Director – Pacific, Japan & Central South Asia, Matthew Burke said Melbourne’s bookings had been progressively building for the race weekend ever since the Grand Prix calendar dates were announced, .
“At the beginning of 2022, occupancy on the books was trending at an average of 35 percent, so it is clear that growing confidence around the event and ‘F1 fever’ has captivated the travelling public,” he said.
