Peter Minatsis appointed to Le Meridien Melbourne GM role
Vastly experienced hotelier to lead re-introduction of Le Méridien brand in Australia
Marriott International has announced Peter Minatsis will take the helm as General Manager of Le Méridien Melbourne set to open early 2023.
Mr Minatsis appointment to Le Méridien Melbourne, the 11th property to Marriott’s growing Melbourne portfolio, follows a five-year tenure at Sheraton Melbourne.
A Canadian national, Mr Minatsis’ hospitality career commenced over 20 years ago at The Fairmont Hotel in his hometown of Vancouver.
In 2005 he relocated to Sydney and joined the Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park before moving to Fiji where he successfully opened the Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island, Fiji.
This was followed by a tenure at the Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa before returning to Australia to take the reins at Sheraton Melbourne in 2017.
Welcoming Mr Minatsis to the role, Marriott International Area Vice President, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Sean Hunt said he was delighted he will lead the re-introduction of the distinctive premium Le Méridien brand to the Australian market as the hotel prepares for opening in early 2023.
“Peter is a highly experienced hotelier with a proven track record for delivering outstanding results,” he said.
The 235-room 12-storey hotel at the heart of the city’s cultural centre will feature a restaurant, café, roof terrace and 210sqm of function space.
When open, Le Méridien Melbourne will take the number of Marriott International Australian number of hotels in operation to 29.
