A Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) winter campaign launched last May has gone on record as the most successful domestic campaign to date.
[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”73487″ align=”left” padding=”10″]TNZ General Manager New Zealand and Business Events, Bjoern Spreitzare said the campaign, which encourages Kiwis to take advantage of their own backyard over the cooler months, had driven over 400,000 visits to newzealand.com and directed over 162,000 referrals to tourism operators across the country.
“Our research shows that winter is Kiwis’ second favourite travel season,” Mr Spreitzare said.
“The task of this campaign was to tap into this sentiment and frame travel as winter’s must do activity.
“It’s great to see that New Zealanders are out and about and continuing to discover their back yard during the colder months.
Mr Spreitzare said while domestic travel has been strong, with borders now fully open this is expected to naturally decrease.
