Novotel Devonport officially opened

New hotel significant for regional tourism investment

Described as one of the most significant tourism investments in north-west Tasmania in years, the Novotel Devonport is officially open for business.

Overlooking the Mersey River close to The Spirit of Tasmania terminal, features of the 187-room property will offer 24-hour room service, a fitness centre, and a meeting room for up to 20 delegates.

The hotel’s spacious, well-appointed accommodation options include standard, superior and deluxe guestrooms, along with a selection of executive suites.

Interiors at the hotel are described as timeless and classic, with a neutral colour palette inspired by the natural beauty of Tasmania. Warm accents of red and yellow, seen in the leather and fabric upholstery of decorative furniture pieces, add depth and visual interest and all rooms feature a striking mural of north-west Tasmanian scenery by local photographer Nuala Byrne above the bedhead.

The opening coincides with the debut of the hotel’s F&B offering, Mr Good Guy restaurant and bar, set to become Devonport’s newest gourmet destination with South-east Asian street food utilising the best of Tasmanian produce.

The new Novotel is expected to make a popular attraction in a city historically undersupplied with quality accommodation offerings despite being a major gateway for tourism and trade.

Announcing the news, Accor Pacific CEO, Sarah Derry, said it is an exciting time for Devonport.

“The city is on the verge of a tourism boom, with several major infrastructure works underway to revitalise the city,” she said.

“Novotel Devonport represents one of the most significant tourism investments in the region in years in the bustling coastal city of Devonport.

“Regional Tasmania holds great appeal for visitors and the presence of Novotel Devonport will contribute to the region’s ability to attract conferences and events.

“Novotel Devonport is a celebration of innovative interior design, and thoughtful detail and will provide a great culinary experience, caring for guests and the local community.”

For visitors arriving on the Spirit of Tasmania, Novotel Devonport will act as a marker of the city, sitting with the Paranaple convention centre and waterfront parkland as a new gateway to Devonport.
